It was all laid out for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to send a message to Russia and drugs in sport, but they've gone and let us all down.
The IOC had a chance to strike a blow and they've botched it badly.
Never before has there been such overwhelming evidence and proof of drug taking, I mean Russia even used their secret service to hide the drug taking. It was straight out of a James Bond movie.
It is after all the Olympics, so who better to make a bold statement than the Olympic Committee? It is after all their games, and they should have banned Russia.
Too bad if there was some clean Russian athletes caught up in the sweep, sometimes there needs to be collateral damage to be effective.
