Joseph Parker's WBO title fight is only 1 of 4 possible world titles

According to Joseph Parker's promoters, the 24-year-old boxer is on the brink of doing something no New Zealander has ever done before - fight for boxing's WBO world title.

But the world of boxing is confusing - how much of a big deal is the WBO title?

The WBO is one of four main boxing leagues, which also include the WBC, WBA and IBF.

They're all very similar, and it's debatable which is best.

Currently Parker is the IBF and WBO world number one, yet not the title holder for either.

The IBF champion is Anthony Joshua and the WBO champion is Tyson Fury.

Fury, though, may lose his belt because he hasn't fought in the last nine months.

That means the two highest-ranked fighters, Parker and Wladimir Klitschko, can square off for Fury's belt.

Klitschko, however, is likely to fight Joshua for the IBF title instead this November.

That means Parker could fight the next best contender for the vacant WBO title, Andy Ruiz.

If Parker wins that fight, he becomes WBO champion.

He'll still have the right to fight the winner of the IBF belt - Klitschko or Joshua - because Parker is ranked number one in that league as well.

That could make him the champion of two of boxing's major leagues.

Then, he could negotiate to fight for two remaining titles, WBC and WBA, in what would be a very lucrative "unification bout".
