Kiwi flyweight MMA fighter, Kai Kara-France has produced a brutal knockout in his opening round fight on UFC's Ultimate Fighter tournament of champions.

France is now three wins away from a December showdown with flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.

The 23 year-old Aucklander has been seeded ninth for the 16 man tournament and came up against eight seed, Terrence Mitchell, from Alaska.

France took no time in disposing of the more favoured American, crunching his taller opponent with an overhand right and overwhelming Mitchell with a barrage of punches.

The Thailand based Kiwi now moves on to the second round where he will face the number one seed from Brazil, Alexandre Pantoja
