Kiwis centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been ruled out of Friday night's Test against the Kangaroos at Hunter Stadium.

Kenny-Dowall was seen at training walking freely without a moonboot, but ligament damage in his foot will keep him out.

The Kiwis have confirmed no additions will be made to the squad and it's expected that either Brad Takairangi or Kenny Bromwich, the younger brother of captain Jesse, will take Kenny-Dowall's place.

Both players can play in the centres, but Takairangi could be favoured as he plays there on a regular basis for the Parramatta Eels.

Kenny-Dowall joins a long list of unavailable players for the Newcastle Test, including Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Kieran Foran, Simon Mannering, Peta Hiku, Ben Matulino, Manu Vatuvei, Thomas Leuluai and Tuimoala Lolohea.
