Chiefs coach Dave Rennie believes there are "lots of options" in the rugby world who could replace Steve Hansen after the 2019 international season.

Speaking on Radio Live's Sunday Sport, Rennie told hosts Andrew Gourdie and James McOnie that many coaches can fill the void.

"There are lots of good applicants," said Rennie.

"There is only one All Blacks coach, and it's not an easy gig to get.

"Steve Hansen has done a great job and so have his assistant coaches - and their record speaks for itself."

Rennie says should Hansen continue to dominate international rugby, he might still be around come 2020.

"If they have another great three to four years, who knows? They might decide to stick around longer."

Many fans are predicting Rennie will be the man to replace Hanson when he calls time.

A poll done by Radio Live shows many people agree Rennie will step up in 2019.

David Rennie coached the New Zealand Under-20s to three straight world titles between 2008 and 2010.

In 2012, Rennie replaced Ian Foster as the Chiefs coach, and led the Waikato-based franchise to two consecutive championships over the Sharks and Brumbies respectively.

The Chiefs lost to the Hurricanes in Saturday night's Super rugby semi-final 25-9. The Hurricanes will be hosting the Lions in next week's final.
