Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano's potentially match-saving slide-tackle on Netherlands winger Arjen Robben may have caused him a little more discomfort than he was used to.
Mascherano revealed that he tore his anus in the World Cup semi-final win over the Dutch.
"I thought I had slipped, I thought I wouldn’t make it, but I tore my arse on that move, the pain," Mashcerano said.
The Barcelona midfielder was in the wars as he helped his team into the final against Germany, also suffering a concussion earlier in the game.
The former West Ham and Liverpool midfielder is likely to start in the World Cup final against Germany on Monday (NZT).
