Referee Bruce McTavish has defended his decision to rule Solomon Haumono as not on his feet by the ten count.

Joseph Parker knocked Haumono to the ground with 1:41 to go in the fourth round with a right uppercut

"There is no such thing as a right decision.

"When you count to ten, that's it.

McTavish ruled Haumono to  still be on his knee as he counted ten.

"My job is if you count to ten, the fight stops."

McTavish is a very experience referee, he has controlled 838 fights including flights involving Manny Pacquiao and named WBC referee of the year in 2013 and 2015.

Haumono's trainer Justin Fortune completely disagreed with McTavish's call.

"He got it wrong.

"We are not sore losers, it's actual face he got it wrong."

Solomon Haumono was more humble about his defeat as he felt like he was up in time, and ready to go, but he also respects McTavish's decision.

"I thought I was able to continue but you can't go against the referee. You get taught as a young kid that the referee is always right, Haumono said.

"They are human and sometimes they get it wrong."

Joseph Parker made this his 20th professional win with 17 of them coming by knockout while Haumono suffered his third loss in his 29 professional fights.

Kevin Barry defended McTavish's call to end the fight as Haumono did not look right.

"What would have happened if the referee said box on?

"Joseph would have put him out cold and we could be looking at a guy going off to hospital.

"You don't have to be a boxing expert to see what happened tonight."

Barry also said an announcement would be made on Tuesday about Parker's schedule, potentially revealing some details about the fight against current world champion Anthony Joshua.
