Landon Donovan scored three goals for his fourth Major League Soccer hat trick before Blas Perez found the net a second time to give FC Dallas a 3-3 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Donovan scored twice in nine minutes to give Los Angeles a 3-2 lead in the 82nd minute, but Perez notched his team-leading eighth goal of the season four minutes later.

Dallas nearly won it in stoppage time when Jackson launched a lofted 40-yard (-metre) shot that went off the right goal post.

The draw lifts the Galaxy into a share of fifth place with Seattle, while Dallas remains one point behind, just outside playoff contention.

Matt Hedges scored Dallas' other goal in the 15th minute.

In Sunday's other match, Martin Rivero scored in the 80th minute as the Colorado Rapids salvaged a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA in a game marred by three sending offs.

Chivas midfielder Carlos Alvarez opened the scoring in the fifth minute.

Chivas USA finished with nine players and Colorado was down to 10 men.

Colorado remains in second place in the Western Conference, level with Vancouver on 36 points, while Chivas is in last place on 18 points.
