Redemption is the focus of Auckland midget car racer Brad Mosen this weekend, as he heads into the business end of the New Zealand Speedway calendar.

After a rocky start to the season, Mosen is looking to make a statement this Saturday night when he lines up amongst a stellar field for the Tyreplus Huntly Midget 40 Lapper in the Waikato.

“We haven’t had much go our way yet this season but it’s still early days so there is plenty of time to resurrect the summer,” said the CRC Synergy Racing driver.

“All of the top guys are going down to Huntly on Saturday and they’ve set a pretty exciting race format, including a pole shuffle, so it should be fun.”

Despite being signed with Western Springs Speedway in Auckland, Mosen has always favoured Huntly Speedway and sees it as the perfect venue to turn his summer around.

“I love going to Huntly. It’s a great track surface with a couple of good racing lines and I’ve done well there in the past so hopefully we get some of that good fortune this weekend too.”

The midgets will then head back to Western Springs next weekend to start a compact international series featuring high-profile US and Australian drivers in the fight to be crowned the best midget car racer in the world.

“I’ve raced with these international guys a lot having had a couple of overseas stints myself, so we know what to expect. We proved we can beat them in 2009 when we won the international series so there’s no reason we can’t repeat that feat,” said former World 50-lap Classic winner Mosen.

“It’ll be great to catch up with some of those Aussie and American guys who became good friends while I was overseas, but once racing starts there will be no love lost.”
