The Northern Mystics are still winless in the ANZ Championship this season after a 52-52 draw against the Central Pulse.

It was the third week in a row where the Mystics choked in the final quarter, and both teams believe they were their own worst enemy.

"It was pretty much my fault that they drew," says Katarina Grant.

"We could have won if I didn't give away that stupid penalty. So that's my fault."

Grant's face last night spoke 1000 words. The Pulse captain was pulled up for contact in the dying seconds, allowing Mystics captain Maria Tutaia to square up the match.

To their credit, the Pulse were down by nine goals at one point in the second quarter. But by half time they had clawed their way back to trail by just one.

"We knew what we had to do and we've practised this at training," says Grant.

"We've talked about it a lot and we just dug deep and dug each other out of that hole."

The Mystics, on the other hand, appear to be doing the opposite, throwing away a four-goal lead in the final stanza.

"With no disrespect to the Pulse, I think we had enough opportunities and enough points on the board and then we blew it ourselves," says Cathrine Tuivaiti.

"It's not good enough."

The Mystics once again were underperforming, unable to deliver on their potential.
