North Harbour win through to Mitre 10 Cup Championship Final

North Harbour will play Otago in Dunedin for the Mitre 10 Championship Cup after defeating Wellington 40-37 at a sun-drenched Westpac Stadium.

It was a match filled with counter-punches as both teams made use of the conditions at the Cake Tin which were very conducive to running rugby.

Despite their forward pack being largely outplayed by a determined home side, North Harbour's backline shone as the likes of Bryn Gatland, Tevita Li and Michael Little stood up for the visitors, in defence and on attack.

The result was very much in the balance for most of the match with Lions racing out to a 18-13 lead in the first half.

It will be North Harbour's first final appearance in 22 years.
