SANZAAR has announced the referee appointments for the semi-finals of the 2016 Super Rugby tournament.
Australian Angus Gardner will referee the first semi-final between the Hurricanes and the Chiefs in Wellington.
Gardner officiated the Highlanders quarter-final win over the Brumbies on Friday, and vaulted to fame on social media after his comical fulltime chat with Aaron Smith, after the halfback had to remind him the game should be over.
South African Jaco Peyper will referee the second semi-final between the Lions and the Highlanders in Johannesburg.
Fellow referee Craig Joubert was unavailable for selection due to his appointment as a match official for the Olympic Sevens in Rio de Janeiro.
