Richie McCaw return pivotal in All Blacks performance

Pivotal to the All Blacks’ performance was the return of their captain, fantastic Richie McCaw, who was simply happy just to have "a run around".

It was as if he'd never been away – McCaw slipping back into test rugby seemingly with ease.

Just as impressive was Aaron Cruden. Steven Luatua had what coach Steve Hansen described as a reassuring first start at six.

There were no nerves further out where Ben Smith's hat trick reinforced his class as a finisher.

The All Blacks’ 47 points were three shy of their best against Australia – an embarrassing start for new Wallabies coach Ewen Mckenzie.

It is a result that will have the All Blacks as firm favourites to retain the cup in Wellington on Saturday.
