Global sporting superstar Serena Williams seems set to headline next year's ASB Classic.
Reports have emerged that the 22-time major winner will join sister Venus, who has made three appearances at the tournament with one title victory, in Auckland in January in what is shaping to be the most high profile list of competitors ever assembled in New Zealand.
Tournament organisers have been reluctant to reveal any clues as to the marquee players they've signed on, but have confirmed they're going to 'make history' with the announcement due Wednesday morning.
With Roger Federer already appearing in Perth and world no.1 Novak Djokovic out of action so close to the Australian Open, all signs point to Williams following her sister's lead down under.
