New Zealand have been drawn in a tricky men's sevens pool at the Rio Olympics.

The third-seeded All Blacks Sevens find themselves alongside Great Britain, Kenya and Japan after Games organisers announced the pools for both the men's and women's tournaments.

Interest surrounds the strength of the British team, who will be drawn from the best talent from England, Wales and Scotland.

Kenya are a proven sevens force, reminding New Zealand of their quality when they stunned Sir Gordon Tietjens' team 22-0 in pool play at the Las Vegas world series tournament in March.

Two-time world series defending champions Fiji are seeded first while Commonwealth Games champions South Africa are second.

The New Zealand women are seeded second behind Australia, who ended the Kiwi monopoly of world series titles by winning the 2015-16 crown.

New Zealand's Rio pool opponents are fifth seeds France, eighth seeds Spain and 11th seeds Kenya.

The women's event runs at Deodoro Olympic Park from August 6-8, followed by the men from August 9-11.

In both competitions, the top two teams from each of three pools progress to the quarter-finals, along with the best third-placed sides.

The match schedule is still to be announced.
