New Zealand's Davis Cup tie against South Korea this week is in doubt due to freezing conditions.

The teams are set to face off against on outdoor Olympic tennis courts this weekend, but heavy snow has put the showdown in danger with no indoor alternative available.

The weather is supposed to improve this week but the temperature in Seoul can potentially fall to -10.

Low temperature cannot postpone matches but a Davis Cup referee can use their judgement regarding playing conditions.

Tennis NZ chief executive Steve Johns is keeping an eye on conditions from afar as the New Zealand players arrive for the tie.

"We'll keep in close contact with team captain Alistair Hunt and the ITF regarding conditions. There's still a few days remaining, but both teams will want to practice on the match court," said Johns.

It will be the tenth contest between the two sides with New Zealand leading 7-2.
