All Blacks head coach Steven Hansen has strongly implied that he intends to re-sign with the NZRU through to the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Hansen told BBC Sport that he will make a firm decision by the August as to his future with his current contract set to expire at the conclusion of the 2017 season.

When quizzed as to whether he'd likely remain in New Zealand, Hansen indicated he was eager to cement a new deal.

"New Zealand Rugby have got to say they're keen too," said the 57-year-old. "I'm sure if we can sit down, something positive will come."

Hansen was clear that other factors such as motivation and family would come into consideration, but indicated that his desire to see the side improve still burned strongly, referring to the role as "the best job from a New Zealander's point of view."

"That's one thing I found out during the latest series [3-0 against Wales], that's still there and I love winning and I love that team.

"That combination of questions has been answered for me but there's one or two I've just got to ask myself yet and we'll make a decision before the Rugby Championship."
