Steven Adams has suffered an injury scare in Oklahoma City Thunder's clash at home against the Miami Heat.

The 23-year-old immediately checked out in the 7th minute of the first quarter after clasing with Heat big man Hassan Whiteside.

Whilst blocking Whiteside, Adams got his hand caught in between Whiteside's arm and his body, grimmacing as he retracted his arm.

He then immediately checked out of the game and retreated to the changing rooms before returning a short time later with the hand bandaged.

The official word from the Thunder is that Adams "just banged his thumb".

Adams is no stranger to painful hand injuries after having surgery on his right hand for a broken bone 18 months ago.

Just a week after signing a contract extension worth in the vicinity of $NZ140 million, Adams' caution is certainly warranted.

Other than the Adams potential injury, there were no issues for the Oklahoma City Thunder who easily accounted for the Heat 97-85.

They will face the Raptors at home on Thursday (NZT).
