Yet another high-profile sportsperson has found out when you bleat a tweet, you do so at your own peril.

To add to the recent e-outbursts of English cricketers Kevin Pietersen and  Dimitri Mascarenhas, Australian champion swimmer Stephanie Rice has been dumped by her sponsor Jaguar Australia for dropping an ‘f-bomb’ on Twitter.

“Suck on that f—gots,” Rice tweeted after the Wallabies defeated the Springboks last Saturday.

The triple gold medallist at the 2008 Summer Olympics and current 400 metre individual medley world record holder showed that sports stars of all codes have to be vigilant when using social networks, and her different strokes for different folks comment landed her in deep water.

Jaguar Australia general manager Kevin Goult announced: "Jaguar Australia today terminated its relationship with Stephanie Rice, who has been an ambassador for the Jaguar brand in Australia since the start of 2010."

It is thought that the luxury car maker cut Rice following condemnation of her comment from former rugby league star Ian Roberts, who branded Rice, and anyone who sponsors her, “a complete idiot”.
