Video: Twerking footballer dealt yellow card for 'excessive celebration'

A football player has received a yellow card after celebrating a goal by twerking.

Former Middlesborough striker Kei Kamara, now playing for the New England Revolution in the American MLS, fired home his side's third goal to cap off a comfortable 3-0 victory and proceeded to treat the home crowd to his own interpretation of the dance move popularised by the likes of Beyonce and Miley Cyrus.

Referee Hilario Grajeda took exception immediately, not hesistating in dishing a perplexed Kamara a yellow card for 'excessive celebration'.

It's not the first time a sportsman has been punished for adopting the move, with Pittsburgh Steelers star Antonio Brown copping a $US6,000 (NZ$8400) fine from the NFL for using it after a touchdown in early September.
