Wladimir Klitschko injury to delay Anthony Joshua fight

Former heavyweight champion of the world Wladimir Klitschko will almost certainly not fight on December 10 after suffering what is thought to be a lower leg injury.

The fight was already thought to be improbable with the WBA not likely to sanction the fight against Anthony Joshua. And the latest injury adds fuel to the doubts that Klitschko will be fit enough to take on Joshua who is 13 years his junior.

The two camps are rumoured to have been in talks for weeks about a fight in Berlin on December 10. However numerous sources have confirmed the Klitschko injury meaning that the fight won't take place until the first half of 2017, if at all.

Rumours about the scheduling and sanctioning of the fight are unlikely to abate with an official announcement not due for several days.
