The All Blacks stood up to the Pumas scrum in Hamilton but they're not getting carried away ahead of Sunday's return test in Argentina.

It's a country where the big men are loved but have plenty to prove.

The locals know how to have a good time in Buenos Aires and when they take that to the rugby it can cause a few headaches.

"It's always tough here," said Charlie Faumuina

"It's really noisy.

"We have to make sure we take them out of the game early because the longer the Argy boys are in it the louder that crowd gets behind them."

Faumuina though may face more cheers than jeers if selected for Saturday's Test.

The Auckland prop has been well received by local rugby fans, who are big supporters of good front-row forwards.

"I don't know if they know me, it's probably just because I'm the biggest guy in the team, so they just want to take a picture with me."

And the world cup winner is copping some grief from teammates for his new found fame.

"Yeah, some of the boys are getting into me about it.

"Sam Whitelock and the others, they're just saying I should come over here and get some sponsorships or something."

If you can stand up to Argentina's front row you deserve something in return.

"There's a pretty good chance you could get embarrassed scrumming Argentina, so we put in a lot of work," said Wyatt Crockett.

They managed to neutralise the Puma's love of making scrums last as long as possible.

And there's another place the stakes are high here in Argentina, they've got to prove themselves at the dinner table.

Faumuina though said team management aren't putting any limits on what local cuisine the players dine out on.

"Na they trust us ay"

They must do because they just bring out a whole bunch of meat at one time, so yeah."
