A few of the All Blacks took a break from their Bledisloe Cup preparations today to put some much needed smiles on some the faces of some young epilepsy sufferers and their families.

Dane Coles, Damian McKenzie and Aaron Smith paid a visit to the Wellington Hospital where they heard a heartfelt testimony from the mother of one of the affected children before dishing out toys and autographs, much to the children's delight.

It was a particularly moving experience for recent father Dane Coles, putting into perspective what the All Blacks mean to people across the nation.

"It definitely brings you back down to earth and puts your feet back firmly on the ground, just to help out the kids where we can," said Coles.

"Those kids do it tough but they're still smiling and living day by day, which is pretty pleasing to see.

"Being a newish father, it's pretty touching."
