Champion canoeist Lisa Carrington is in the best shape possible, just three and a half months out from the Rio Olympics.

It's just a matter of fine tuning now for the 26-year-old who's off to Europe at the weekend to compete in three World Cup events before the Games.

While expectations are high for the 2012 Olympic champion, Carrington said she's the one who holds herself in the highest regard.

"I'm the one with the biggest expectation, but I kind of look at it like I can only do what I can do," Carrington said.

"Everything I do today, tomorrow, have done in the past, I've done to my best to prepare for Rio.

"I can tick those boxes and then whatever happens on the day will happen."

Carrington said that even if she doesn't repeat her gold medal performance, she values the work she's put into the chase.

"For me I've got two races so maximum of three minutes of racing, so it's such a short period. We spend most of our time training so you have to really value the time outside of racing.

"We spent years and years training and maybe only an hour of our entire life racing."
