Weeks after the All Blacks finished their northern hemisphere tour, the super rugby teams are into their preseason training.

For the Crusaders, new coach Scott Robertson is the man steering the ship and many hope he will be the man to take the Crusaders back to premiership glory.

The Crusaders have not won a title since 2008 and Robertson knows there is pressure to perform

I just want the guys to care, be energetic and embrace the challenges," said Roberton.

As well as Robertson replacing Todd Blackadder at the top, there are also a host of new faces in the squad, including former Blues halfback Bryn Hall.

Hall has worked with Robertson in the Baby Blacks in 2012 when Razor was the resources coach and he is looking forward to working under him with the Crusaders.

"It was a great opportunity to come here and grow as a player while working at a successful franchise," said Hall.

Fresh from Canterbury's "premiership" title this year, Robertson says he's got his own observations on previous Crusaders campaigns, the major one this year was how and why the side dropped its form, following the All Blacks test window against Wales.

"I've got my little notebook and at different times put notes in the last two years," said Robertson.

The Crusaders break up for the Christmas break on December 23 and will re-form in Christchurch on January 9. The Crusaders have two pre-season matches lined up, against the Hurricanes and the Highlanders. They will be taking part in the inaugural Brisbane Tens tournament.

But the Crusaders first goal of the year is to rid themselves of their reputation as "slow starters".
