FIFA presidential candidate Prince Ali bin al-Hussein is confident he will win if the elections are clean.

Prince Ali is in New Zealand ahead of the elections on February 26 to thank the country's governing body for their support and talk about his plans for the future.

One of those plans is to scrap the half qualifying spot for the Football World Cup which Oceania currently has to go through.

Prince Ali had high praise for New Zealand saying they were "such an important country to football".

"I think New Zealand plays such a critical role because of your moral standing, your ethics and that's obviously why I'm here to get support," he said.

Transparency is one of the big policies Prince Ali is looking to implement, and thinks that he will win the presidency if the powers that be are open with their procedure.

"I have full faith in the ethics committee and the electoral committee and, if they do things the right way and I'm confident they will, then certainly I will win this election," Prince Ali said.

"We're going to make it a real, open organisation - that is crucial. Unlock the doors and open the windows, that's the way things should be."
