Giancarlo Stanton has slugged his way to 2016 Home Run Derby title after beating defending champion Todd Frazier in the final.

Stanton dominated as he crushed a total of 61 home runs, the most anyone has ever hit in the Derby.

Los Angeles Dodgers Corey Seager set the mark in the first quarter-final, smacking 15 homeruns, more than anybody hit in the whole of last year's Home Run Derby.

Naturally he was beaten by the next man up Mark Trumbo, who eased his way to 16 and into the semi-finals.

In a match of the heavyweight hitters it was Stanton hammering Robinson Cano after the Miami Marlins outfielder hit 24 home runs on 30 swings of the bat.

In the last two quarter-finals Adam Duvall beat hometown Padres hero Will Myers, while 2015 Derby champion Frazier made it look easy as he beat Carlos Gonzales 12-11.

Stanton saw off Trumbo 17-14 in the first semi-final and Frazier kept alive hopes of defending his title as he slugged past Duvall 16-15.

After a slow start, Stanton rattled his way to 20 homers in the final, which was more than enough to beat Fraizer, who tired off and could only manage 13.
