It was manager Harry Redknapp’s first game in charge of Queens Park Rangers and an early chance to nearly double their English Premier League table points at the expense of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

For Harry to become the cellar dweller Houdini – again, like the roles he played at Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur – it would also mean that QPR would win their first game of the season.

But there was no Harry Houdini, with QPR fighting out a scoreless draw to take a point. A clean sheet though, something for the new manager to take away - QPRs second only of the season.

Sunderland had the best scoring opportunity of the match, with Steven Fletcher climbing high only for his header to be parried away.

The first half saw a split in possession and both teams having one real chance – QPRs through Jamie Mackie and Sunderland’s chance at the feet of Fletcher, but neither could net.
