The frustration of 2016 is finally over for the World Endurance Champions: Brendon Hartley, Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard.

The trio in the Porsche 919 claimed their first win of the season, claiming the 6 Hours of Nürburgring in what was a repeat of last year's maiden victory.

Hartley crashed out while leading the season opener at Silverstone, but the Kiwi made up for that embarrassment by claiming pole at the next race at Spa. Unfortunately mechanical problems ended their challenge in Belgium, and it happened again at Le Mans, this time a failed water pump cost them any chance of victory in the world’s biggest sports car race.

Even today in Germany there were anxious moments in the No.1 garage, with a tyre pressure loss early on, but prevailed to claim victory at Porsche's home race.

"It feels great to be back on the top of the podium," said Hartley, who admitted they had some luck with the traffic.

"Early stages of the race were good and we overtook the leading Audi in the first pit window because our crew was faster.
