The All Blacks Sevens are through to the final of the Hong Kong Sevens after prevailing 12-7 over South Africa in extra time.

They'll play old foes Fiji in the final after they trounced Australia in the second semi-final, scheduled to start at 11pm (NZT).

Tim Agaba opened the game's scoring, pouncing on a ball spilt from a ruck and diving under the crossbar from close range to give South Africa an early lead.

Lewis Ormond pulled it back for New Zealand after being freed by a superb pass by Sonny Bill Williams, Gillie Kaka slotting a difficult conversion to tie the game with three minutes to play.

The score remained 7-7 at the end of regulation, the contest heading into extra-time to decide the outcome.

Issac Te Tamaki was the recipient of a dubious yellow card for a high tackle as the first half of extra time came to a close, reducing New Zealand to six men for two minutes during which they managed to maintain their try-line.

The arm-wrestle continued another four minutes until the All Blacks Sevens pulled out a touch of magic, Kurt Baker dropping a cross-field kick for Regan Ware to hit in stride and send his side into the final.
