Video highlights: All Blacks Sevens steal 27-24 win over Australia in final

The All Blacks Sevens have broken Australian hearts in the final of the Sydney leg of the World Series, a Rieko Ioane try with time expired pinching them a 27-24 victory.

It was the hosts who were on the board first, Henry Hutchison cutting back on a sharp angle to score from close range.

New Zealand hit back just a minute later, Akira Ioane going 90 metres down the right flank before finding younger brother Rieko inside to cross under the black dot unimpeded.

After Sonny Bill Williams was sin-binned for repeated high tackles Henry Hutchison was able to take advantage of an overlap out wide to score.

With just seconds remaining in the half it was Kurt Baker who was able to bring New Zealand back on equal terms, sprinting 70 metres into clear spaces to send the side into halftime at 12-12.

Australia struck first in the second period, Sam Myers latching on to a pinpoint wide ball to jog one in and take back the lead.

NZ skipper Tim Mikkelsen slipped through a tackle and went 80 metres to even the scores a minute later, Aussie speedster Greg Jeloudev returning the favour from similar range shortly afterwards to put the locals up 24-17.

A quick tap from a penalty 20 metres out saw Rieko Ioane grab a double, the critical conversion drifting wide.

With time up on the clock the Kiwis had one last roll of the dice, Rieko Ioane stepping up to sink the dagger with a try in the corner.
