Australia have scrapped to a 16-0 win over New Zealand in a dour ANZAC Test in Newcastle.
The hosts were the first to cross the chalk, Darius Boyd able to graze the chalk with the ball after initially looking to have been tackled short.
Greg Inglis was next up, taking a Thurston ball in space and swerving his defender to burrow across, extending the lead to 10-0 after 32 minutes.
The defensive arm-wrestle continued into the second half, both sides unable to find any rhythm on attack, Cam Smith's penalty the only points added.
Blake Ferguson nabbed one more in the final minute of the game.
