Jordie Barrett has guided Canterbury to a massive 45-14 win over Tasman in Christchurch.

Barrett, younger brother of current All Blacks first-five Beauden, scored 25 of Canterbury's 45 points in the bonus point win.

It was the second game in a row where Canterbury scored more than 40 points, after they beat Auckland 43-3 last weekend.

The 19-year-old scored the game's opening try in the 16th minute after a great run by Rob Thompson set him up.

Canterbury led 16-9 at the break.

Tasman got back in the match after bulky winger Tima Faingaanuku pushed past three defenders to score.

It was a close battle heading into the last quarter of the game, but then the home side began to pull away.

Tries to Dominic Bird, Nathan Vella, Jack Goodhue and Kaveinga Finau rounded off the dominant performance for Canterbury.

Canterbury will travel north to face Northland next weekend while Tasman will host Taranaki in the round three action.
