Porto and Sevilla claimed the final two spots in the round of 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday while record breaking Borussia Dortmund fought back from two goals down to draw at Real Madrid and take top honours in their group.

In the day's top billing, Real Madrid went up 2-0 but Dortmund stormed back with two goals in the final half-hour for a 2-2 draw and first place in Group F.

Karim Benzema's brace in the 28th and 53rd minutes put Madrid ahead 2-0. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang pulled a goal back at the hour mark. Aubameyang then set up the equalizer as he fed substitute Marco Reus to make it 2-2 in the 88th minute. Dortmund topped the group with 14 points to 12 for Madrid.

"We are so excited about coming back and this draw feels like a victory," Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel said.

"It didn't look like we could win this game but we kept fighting and it's important for the team's morale."

Dortmund's two goals set a new Champions League record as they totalled 21 goals in the group stage. Real Madrid scored 20 goals in 2013-14 after Barcelona accomplished the feat in 2011-12 and this season and Manchester United found the back of the net 20 times in 1998-99.

Reus said beating the champs was crucial for the development of the team.

Legia Warsaw finished third in Group F with a 1-0 win over 10-man Sporting Lisbon. Guilherme hit in the 30th minute for Legia before William Carvalho was sent off with his second warning in the 85th.

Leicester coach Claudio Ranieri, whose team finished with 13 points to 11 for Porto, was not happy about his side's showing.

Copenhagen were waiting for Porto to slip up but took third place with nine points after a 2-0 victory over Brugge. Brandon Mechele scored an own goal in the ninth minute and Mathias Jorgensen made it 2-0 after 15 minutes.

Sevilla meanwhile finished Group H with a 0-0 draw at Olympique Lyon but the Spaniards advanced as the second place team behind Juventus, who beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0.
