Tottenham Hotspur have been beaten 3-0 by French side Monaco in front of a record 85,011 crowd at Wembley.

Spurs played in front of the highest home attendance for an English club in the Champions League, but failed to scrape a point from the contest after some sloppy first half defending.

Spurs found themselves in all kinds of trouble when Bernardo Silva slotted his effort past Hugo Lloris from 25 yards out and Thomas Lemar hammered a shot into the roof of the net from point-blank range.

The hosts found a bolt of inspiration on the stroke of half-time when Toby Alderweireld met Erik Lamela's corner with a powerful header.

Despite looking more purposeful in the second half, Spurs struggled to test Danijel Subasic in the Monaco goal.
