Video highlights: Warriors thump Bulldogs 34-8 - NRL Nines

The New Zealand Warriors have got their NRL Nines campaign off to a flyer, pounding the Bulldogs 34-8 in their opening match at Eden Park.

The Bulldogs broke the deadlock after a tight opening stanza from both sides, fullback Tyrone Phillips splitting some soft defense and cantering 40 metres to score.

The visitors were in again just minutes later, Shaun Lane running on to a short ball from close range to extend the lead to 8-0.

The Warriors finally got themselves on the board right on the halftime interval, late call-up Nathaniel Roache scooting from dummy half to cut the deficit to 8-6.

New Zealand came out with much more urgency in the second half, Jeff Robson running off the shoulder of Jacob Lillyman to edge his team ahead.

Shaun Johnson then wrong-footed the defense to send Solomone Kata over in the corner, extending the Warriors' advantage to 16-8.

Kata had a double seconds later after brushing off some meek Bulldogs defense, Nathaniel Roache adding salt to Bulldog wounds as he grabbed a brace of his own soon after.

Shaun Johnson nabbed the easiest of intercept tries as the clock wound down to seal an ultimately emphatic Warriors win.

The Warriors next and final pool game of the day will be against the Manly Sea Eagles at 6:15pm.
