Kosta Barbarouses believes teams will be on high alert when playing the Wellington Phoenix this season.

The two-time A-League winner is back with his first professional club, after signing a three year deal earlier this year.

Barbarouses, alongside fellow high profile signing Gui Finkler are expected to form a potentially lethal Phoenix attack that already boasts the likes of Roly Bonevacia and Roy Krishna.

"My objective in football is to win as many games as possible and I wouldn't have come here if I didn't think I could achieve that," Barbarouses told Newshub.

"I knew coming here would show other people that we are being very serious this year.

"Obviously, Gui [Finkler] has followed me here and hopefully a few more so we can make a serious push this year.

The few more are expected to be defensive players, with the Phoenix looking to replace the retired Albert Riera and Ben Sigmund, and Manny Muscat, who has departed for Melbourne City.
