Lydia Ko's composure returned in the nick of time after flirting with the cut in the second round of the British Open at Milton Keynes.

The world No.1 hit back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to safely move her into the weekend after shooting a 70 round.

Ko has missed the cut just once in her 81 career events, and needed a smart recovery on the 16th hole when her tee shot drifted well right of the fairway and into the crowd.

The 19-year-old kept her composure, driving a low shot through the trees and onto the green, and then sank the putt to drag her back above the cut line.

Ko finished the second round tied for 57th, 11 shots behind leader Mirim Lee, who holds a one-shot lead over the chasing Shanshan Feng and Ariya Jutanugarn in second.
