Video: Parker opponent Alexander Dimitrenko: "I have nothing to lose"

Joseph Parker's next opponent, Russian Alexander Dimitrenko, may not be completely fluent in English but there was no misinterpreting his message for the Kiwi heavyweight ahead of their October bout.

"He's a human being like me and you," said the 34-year-old. "I met him yesterday, he's a nice guy but during the fight we will both be trying to win."

One area where the Russian sees a significant advantage is in the experience stakes, bringing over 15 years of professional boxing experience and a 38-2 win-loss record to the ring against relative newcomer Parker.

"I have more experience, I have more fights. I have 40 fights and I only lost two.

"He hasn't lost, but in this business anything can happen."

A win against a high-profile contender like Parker would be enormous for his profile, the significance of the opportunity at hand not lost on Dimitrenko.

"This is a big chance for me, I have nothing to lose.

"I will prepare myself well, I can win a world championship."

As to his particular strengths in the squared circle, he was giving nothing away.

"You will see on the first of October."
