Blackcaps fast bowler Tim Southee is positive a big score by Ross Taylor is "just around the corner" ahead of the third one day International against India in Mohali, Punjab.

Taylor has struggled in India, scoring 89 runs in six test innings and 21 in the first two ODIs for a combined 110 runs.

Taylor also struggled in the two tests against South Africa, scoring three runs.

"He's a quality player so he's not far away from a big score," said Southee.

"He's still working hard in the nets. He's obviously disappointed, he's a senior player and he wants to lead with some runs,

"We know there's a big score around the corner for him."

The 32-year-old has also had some issues off the field this week, with the released of Brendon McCullum's book.

McCullum stated in his book he nearly quit the game over the Ross Taylor captaincy saga.

Despite the issues, the Blackcaps managed to win the second ODI against India by six runs, off the back of a century by Captain Kane Williamson, Southee thinks the Blackcaps biggest strength is staying calm.

"I think the strength of our side is that we don't get too far ahead of ourselves and we don't get too down of ourselves when the results don't go our way," said Southee.

"We prepare the same way before every match and I don't think you can let what's happened in the game before influence the game you are preparing for."

The Blackcaps and India are currently tied at one-all in the best of five ODI series. The third ODI will start at 9pm tonight (NZT).
