Wallabies flanker Dean Mumm has been cited for alleged foul play during his team's third Bledisloe Cup Test loss to the All Blacks.

Mumm has been charged with striking by the citing commissioner, who deemed the 52nd-minute incident - missed by referee Nigel Owens - met the red-card threshold.

It appeared Mumm struck All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick with an elbow, sending him falling to the ground.

It is not known at this stage if the hit by Mumm played any part in Retallick suffering from concussion later on.

Rettalick could potentially miss the All Blacks' end-of-year tour due to the injury.

Wellington lock Vaea Fifita is on standby if Retallick is unable to go on tour.

The incident is to be heard by duty judicial officer Robert Stelzner.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika spoke about the incident after the Wallabies landed in Sydney.

"I don't want to talk about it too much," he said at the Sydney airport.

"Mumm trying to get away from being held back illegally in the ruck, so we'll see what happens tonight, and after the decisions start to flow, we'll talk a bit more about it then."

New Zealand went on to win the Test 37-10 at Eden Park on Saturday night to sweep the series 3-0.
