If you're thinking about buying a loved one the latest hi-tech gadget for Christmas, you may want to look towards smart TVs.
They are the latest technology to land on the market just in time for the festive season, and technology commentator Paul Spain says they will likely prove popular.
“We’ve seen a range of applications coming to TV’s over the last 12 to 24 months, and Panasonic’s latest offering is one that will get a bit of attention,” he says.
Mr Spain says the application allows viewers to simultaneously watch TV and browse online auction site Trade Me.
“They’ve just launched an application for their TVs that allows you to shrink down what you’re watching to a slightly smaller size, and surround it with the Trade Me application,” he says.
“So while you’re watching TV you can also be looking for items, and bidding, and looking through photos and so on.”
New Wi-Fi systems are also set to be released soon, offering broader and faster coverage.
