China-bound cows at risk - SAFE

Animal group SAFE believes the welfare of 7000 dairy cows is at risk, as they start their 17-day journey to China.
The herd – the size of nine South Canterbury dairy farms – is currently being loaded onto a ship at the Timaru port.
SAFE executive director Hans Kriek says the journey could see the cows suffering from broken bones and miscarriages.
The deal is believed to be worth around $12 million.
