The rebuild of Christchurch just got a huge boost from one of the real gems of the entertainment world, Dame Maggie Smith.
The distinguished English actress - who won her first Oscar 40 years ago and who has become known to a new generation as Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter - is to be the patron of the rebuild of the city's Court Theatre.
She's going to help raise the $4.6 million needed to get the theatre up and running again before the end of the year.
And it is heartfelt support from the actress, as Richard Langston discovered when he talked to her in London.
