MPs tight-lipped on Longstone resignation

Wednesday 19 Dec 2012 4:25 p.m.

Earlier this afternoon it was announced Education Secretary Lesley Longstone was resigning from the Ministry of Education, just one year into the job.

It was a decision apparently made two to three weeks ago, but only made public today.

Rather convenient, given Ms Longstone is currently on holiday in England.

So, Campbell Live put in a request to speak to Education Minister Hekia Parata but were told she was on holiday – and wouldn’t be commenting.

When we asked to speak to Prime Minister John Key we were told while he isn’t on holiday, he was otherwise engaged.
