The first Olympic medal won by a New Zealander was in 1908. The first for New Zealand was in 1920.
The 100th was won this week in Weymouth at a sailing event with an almost quintessential English seaside background.
The winners were a 21-year-old from Taranga, and a 23-year-old from the far north.
They are Peter Burling and Blair Tuke.
