A guide to London published in an Air China magazine is being slammed for its comments about minority groups.

The safety warning in the September issue of Wings of China suggests people take precautions "when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis and black people".

It also suggests people don't go alone at night and women should "be accompanied by another person when travelling".

Haze Fan, a producer for CNBC, posted the photo on Twitter and challenged London Mayor Sadiq Khan to give his opinion on the article.

Mr Khan is yet to respond, but Labour MP for Ealing Southall Virendra Sharma has written to the Chinese ambassador to the UK to demand an apology from Air China.

"I am shocked and appalled that even today some people would see it as acceptable to write such blatantly untrue and racist statements."

"I have invited representatives of Air China to visit my constituency of Ealing, Southall to see that a very multi-cultural area is safe, and would be of great value for those visiting London to see," Mr Sharma wrote.

Air China has tweeted a comment apologizing for the offensive language and says copies of the magazines are being removed from its planes.

"We at Air China Limited do not condone discrimination in any shape or form," they said in a statement.
