Day one of the International Paris Air Show saw two of Airbus' biggest brands wow the home crowd.

First off was the Airbus A380, which still demands attention in flight even after 10 years in the air.

A low-altitude display was performed by one of the first A380's off the production line in full Airbus livery.

Commercially for Airbus, however, the flight of the day was from the brand new A350 Extra Wide Body (XWB).

With hugely impressive fuel efficiency and range, the aircraft - made of a mixture of carbon fiber and plastic - could be the key to Airbus' success in the future as it takes on Boeing's 777 and Dreamliner products.
