Hundreds of peaceful protesters have marched on Rio's Copacabana beach to demand the expulsion of Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff.

Copacabana Beach will host the Olympic Beach Volleyball competition after South America's first Olympic Games officially opens on Friday, but today it was crowded with protestors chanting "Out Dilma! Out corruption!"

Ms Rousseff faces an impeachment process that is likely to permanently remove her from power within weeks.

Interim President Michel Temer has said he expects to be jeered when he goes to the Games' opening ceremony, while Ms Rousseff says she won't attend.

Ms Rousseff is facing an impeachment trial for allegedly breaking budgetary laws, by borrowing billions from state banks to cover budget gaps without informing Congress.
