A terminally-ill Sydney woman had her dying wish granted when former NRL star Beau Ryan rushed to her bedside on Tuesday night.

Kia Lettice had "roughly four hours to live" when her friend, Mahalia Murphy, took to Facebook to track down her friend's heroes.

Ms Murphy appealed to Beau Ryan or Greg Inglis to give her friend a "boost up" in a post that has been shared over 700 times.

Ryan, who played for the Cronulla Sharks and West Tigers, and hosts The Footy Show, replied, telling Ms Lettice to "stay strong" while he made a two-hour dash across Sydney to Prince Wales Hospital.

Ms Murphy, Ms Lettice's friend, who plays for the Australian women's sevens team, said the moment was "priceless" and praised Ryan for being a "true legend".

The energy Ms Lettice gained from meeting him "was amazing", Ms Murphy said. She is still fighting the ovarian cancer.

The NRL also caught wind of Ryan's act, saying that "not all heroes wear capes".
